About Me

I am a postdoc at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Zurich. My work focuses on the broad questions of how so many species on this planet coexist, and what they are all doing here. I go about this by investigating the rules for community assembly and the consequences of community dissassembly, principally using grassland plants in model communities. The roles of competition and trophic interactions in shaping these relationships, as well as the ways of measuring different aspects biodiversity, all interest me.

In addition, I am broadly interested in natural resource managment and how ecologists can apply our approach to understanding the world to practical problems.
